Introduction
The Design Center was founded in 1994 as a general workshop with the aim of providing specialist design and fabrication services for industrial automation in Sri Lanka. Later it was named the Design Centre in order to better reflect the Research and Development activities being carried out. The Tea Industry is one of the sectors to benefit most from the specialist technical knowledge and technological capability of Nikini. There are a vast number of other manufacturing oriented industries that benefit from the activities of Nikini where specialist industrial machinery are designed and fabricated to suit the specific requirement of the industrial consumer. It is equipped with a state of the art CNC machine to manufacture high precision machine elements required for machinery along with milling and drilling machines.

A wide range of services is being provided as after sales services from the Nikini Design Center. These will be carried out as per contractual agreements and they will cover replacement of worn out components, implementation of modifications needed, upgrading of existing machinery and evaluation of machine performance for optimization objectives.
Research & Development
We allocate a considerable amount of the annual budget for Research and Development to come out with better and more innovative products and services to improve the operation and efficiency of the industrial sector in Sri Lanka. This eventually results in a higher quality and more reliable product and service being delivered to the local industry.
