Nikini introduces grid tied solar power solutions to Sri Lanka

To counter the twin problems of energy scarcity and global warming and resultant climatic changes the world over Nikini takes a proactive step to introduce industrial scale grid connected solar photovoltaic power installations in Sri Lanka.

The major advantage in a grid tied solar power installation is that it could be operated without battery banks. However for systems needing a back up power supply a battery bank may be incorporated.

 

 

NIKINI 25K SOLAR

Nikini has its own Solar Photovoltaic installation of 25 kilo Watts for its Green Building office premises. This is built as a showcase project to display the potential of solar power in Sri Lanka, the most available renewable energy source in Sri Lanka. The system is grid connected as well as having a back up power supply generated from solar power. It has a back up system to supply power for 2 days in the case of a power cut.

What is Photovoltaic?

Photovoltaic refers to a technology, which uses a device to produce a flow of electrons when exposed to light, resulting in the production of an electric current. Using this concept electricity could be produced from sunlight using solar photovoltaic modules.

The sun is the basic energy source for all human activities be it fossil fuel or wind power the source of the energy existing is the sun.

The light energy of the sun is converted to electricity by the solar modules and harnessed in to a readily useable form by the inverter system.
